Melbourne, Victoria, Australia State Government Of Victoria, Australia Full time

The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system, responsible for shaping it to meet the evolving health needs of all Victorians. We strive to empower individuals and communities to achieve optimal health outcomes.

We're focused on supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can through proactive initiatives such as alerting them to seasonal risks like thunderstorm asthma, notifying them of contact with communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing world-class health, wellbeing and care facilities, being at the forefront of mental health and wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research.

As Chief Planned Care Transformation Officer, you will lead a broad program of work to ensure timely and equitable access to planned care for all Victorians. This role is responsible for several key components of planned care delivery at the statewide level, including outlining the strategic direction for planned care in Victoria.

A key responsibility of this role will be to ensure health services deliver against their planned surgery targets set out in their Statement of Priorities and hold them accountable for annual performance through locally designed accountability and customised improvement approaches.

You will build, maintain and influence strong working relationships with senior health service stakeholders, engage with the sector through regular communications and forums, and ensure the system provides timely access to endoscopy through system accountability mechanisms, policy uplift as well as applying relevant improvement and reform opportunities to address inequity.

This role requires an effective leader who works collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to design system-wide reform, policy and frameworks built upon a deep understanding of the Victorian health system. You will provide strategic direction to champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to develop and implement meaningful and tangible reform for consumers of the Victorian planned care system.

Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead a large workforce and build a positive workplace dynamic to ensure strong morale and engagement and maximise staff wellbeing. Additionally, you will lead the facilitation of the workforce's professional development and learning, and seek opportunities to share knowledge across the program.

Maintain good awareness of the current political and government context to provide strategic, evidence-based advice and act as an authoritative source of information for senior stakeholders.

The estimated salary for this role is AU$180,000 - AU$220,000 per annum, depending on experience.

The Department of Health offers a wide range of growth and development opportunities within the department and wider Victorian Public Service & Sector. A strong commitment to work-life balance, including a diverse array of flexible working arrangements, is also offered.
