Coal Quality Specialist

About the PositionWe are seeking a skilled Coal Quality Tester to join our team in Mackay. As a Coal Quality Tester, you will be responsible for ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all results are accurate and reliable.
Key Responsibilities- Ensuring Safety and Efficiency: Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all results are accurate and reliable.
- Compliance with Standards: Ensure that all work complies with national and international standards.
- Result Validation: Check and validate all results to ensure that they are within repeatability tolerances.
- Reporting: Enter validated results into the reporting system.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain the laboratory and its equipment according to company standards.
- Process Improvement: Make recommendations on ways of improving the efficiency and accuracy of sample analysis.
- Analytical Testing: Conduct a range of analytical tests, including total moisture.
- Physical Testing: Conduct a range of physical tests, including sample preparation, crushing, dividing, and sample storage.
- Strong Focus on Safety and Quality: A strong focus on safety and quality is essential for this role.
- Strong Numeracy and Literacy Skills: Strong numeracy and literacy skills are required for this role.
- Prior Experience in Coal Testing: Prior experience in a coal testing environment is desirable.
- Computer Skills: Good computer skills, including spreadsheets, are required.
- Manual Handling: Comfortable with manual handling duties.
- Flexibility: Ability to work to a flexible roster and willingness to work 12-hour day, day or night shifts.
- Driver's License: Valid driver's license is required.
- Strong Safety Culture: Competent within a strong safety culture.
