Senior Claims Consultant Role
Our organisation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Claims Consultant to play a pivotal role in guiding customers through life insurance claims with care, expertise, and efficiency. As a key member of our Retail Income Protection Claims team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of complex Retail Income Protection claims, ensuring customer needs are balanced with policy and business requirements.
Effective communication is crucial in this challenging role, where you will interact with customers, advisers, and treating practitioners via phone and written correspondence. Your primary goal will be to interpret policy terms, underwriting decisions, and non-disclosure matters to determine claim eligibility.
Additionally, you will analyse complex financial and medical information to make sound, evidence-based claims decisions. Developing and monitoring Return to Work (RTW) plans in collaboration with customers and healthcare providers will also be an essential part of your responsibilities.
Case conferences will be led by you, employing strategies to gather critical information on customer conditions and work capacity. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including underwriters, rehab consultants, legal and medical officers, and reinsurers, is also expected.
As a technical leader across the claims team, you will mentor junior staff and contribute to strategic decision-making.
- Manage a portfolio of complex Retail Income Protection claims.
- Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders.
- Interpret policy terms and underwriting decisions.
- Analyse complex financial and medical information.
- Develop and monitor RTW plans.
- Lead case conferences and gather critical information.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4-6 years' experience in Claims across Retail Income Protection Insurance.
- Ability to build rapport and empathy with customers during difficult times.
- Comfortable navigating claims systems.
- Diploma or Cert IV in Life Insurance, or equivalent (desirable).
