About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Commercial Finance to join our team at the Kmart Group. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing financial strategies that drive business performance and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders to enhance financial performance across key functional areas, prioritizing efforts on areas that can deliver the greatest value and uplifting areas of underperformance.
  • Conduct financial analysis of investment options and evaluate proposals to identify key assumptions and sensitivities, including preparation of business cases for executive review.
  • Support key projects, track initiatives, and conduct post-implementation reviews to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Identify new opportunities through strategic initiatives to enhance financial performance and manage the governance process for investment approvals.
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting for different business audiences and define critical key performance indicators (KPIs) to support business strategy.
  • Mentor and develop your team, inspiring a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Provide thought leadership, anticipating future business needs, and act as a change agent in driving financial initiatives.

Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include an MBA, CPA/CA, or project management discipline.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a 'Head of' position, having led successful teams.
  • Experience operating in a large-scale corporate environment is essential, with deep retail experience, ideally in areas of supply chain and technology.
  • Excellent leadership qualities, with a proven track record of building engaging teams and coaching them for high performance.
  • Experience in investment decision-making and project/program management.
  • Strong commercial acumen and a solid understanding of financial statements.
  • Proven ability to implement business change successfully and maintain strong governance with a pragmatic approach.
  • The capability to challenge the status quo engagingly and influence all organizational levels.
  • Advanced analytical skills and the ability to manage and resolve complex issues.
