The Role

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Head of Library and a Teacher to join our team at Wheelers Hill Secondary. This dynamic role combines the responsibilities of managing the library and teaching, offering a great opportunity to create a rich and engaging environment for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a Team of Professionals: Manage a team of four and oversee the Secondary School Library, ensuring a seamless and efficient learning environment.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Maintain professional knowledge of standards for library and information management and information retrieval, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices.
  • Deliver Engaging Learning Programs: Design and deliver learning programs that demonstrate a research-based knowledge of how students learn and integrate Formative Assessment Techniques, promoting student-centered learning and academic excellence.
  • Evaluate and Improve: Evaluate personal teaching and learning programs, incorporating feedback from students and assessment data to inform planning and drive continuous improvement.
  • Model Excellence: Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours, setting a high standard for professionalism and integrity.
Requirements
  • Secondary School Teaching Experience: Demonstrated secondary school classroom teaching experience (Years 7-12), with a proven track record of delivering high-quality learning programs.
  • Library Experience: Experience working in a school library environment, with a strong understanding of library management and information retrieval.
  • Passion for Teaching and Learning: A genuine passion and enthusiasm for teaching and nurturing students' learning and personal growth, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) Experience: Supporting programs of the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), with a strong understanding of its principles and practices.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: The ability to influence and mentor, with strong time-management, organisational, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to build professional learning teams focused on continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Qualifications and Certifications: Teaching and Librarianship Qualifications, as well as a current VIT registration.
