About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Category Manager to join our Commercial Grocery team. In this role, you will work closely with the Category Manager to drive category sales growth, maintain strong supplier relationships, and support the customer-centric category strategy.

You will lead trade plans, manage category data, and deliver against the overall category strategy. Additionally, you will:

  • Develop strong supplier relationships to effectively partner and execute goals
  • Manage the collection, input, and maintenance of all category data, including promotional systems, data systems, and new lines
  • Deliver against the overall category strategy
  • Support execution of the category's pricing, promotion, range selection, and layout development
  • Support sales and commercial forecasting, and category range review process

In return, you will have the opportunity to work on a fast-paced and dynamic role, with numerous strategic objectives to deliver in the coming Financial Year.

About You and Your Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Skills within procurement/sourcing of products
  • Knowledge of the merchandising function and processes
  • Demonstrated analytical skills through proactively sourcing customer insights and data to formulate category recommendations
  • Ability to build and articulate category strategy
  • Cross-functional experience with teams to manage and execute projects
  • Developed communication skills and strong negotiation and influencing skills, with both internal and external stakeholders
