Job Description: Community Programs Manager - Indigenous Cultural Revitalization

This role plays a vital part in delivering cultural programs that sustain Dambimangari language, law, and cultural knowledge. As the Community Programs Manager, you will work closely with Dambimangari Cultural Advisors, the Land & Sea team, expert consultants, and other staff members to develop and implement a new Cultural Programs unit at DAC.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the creation of a digital cultural database accessible by DAC and its members
  • Overseeing the repatriation of Dambimangari cultural materials from museums and research institutions
  • Developing and coordinating various cultural programs for members, such as Junba (song and dance), language, and bushcraft
  • Collaborating with experts and partners to support project delivery as required
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • Relevant qualifications in Aboriginal Studies, Cultural Studies, anthropology, art, linguistics, community development, archaeology, or similar
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating cultural programs with Indigenous communities
  • Demonstrated experience working within Aboriginal communities, preferably in a remote setting
  • Project management skills, including leading a team and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Cultural understanding and proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • A valid C Class Driver's License
  • A Working with Children's Check and Police Clearance, or ability to obtain
