About the Role:

The Cultural Programs Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing cultural programs that aim to preserve and promote Dambimangari language, law, and cultural knowledge.

This exciting role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with Aboriginal communities in a remote setting, contributing to the healing of country and the longevity of Dambimangari culture.

As a team leader, you will coordinate multiple projects, staff, and consultants, working collaboratively to achieve goals set out in the Corporation's 10-year Healthy Country Plan 2023-2032.

You will have experience in community development, arts, culture, and language programs, with a passion for culture, arts, and language. You will also have experience working with Aboriginal people in a remote context, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key duties will include coordinating the development of a digital cultural database, overseeing repatriation of Dambimangari cultural materials, developing cultural programs for members, and working with expert staff and partners to support project delivery.

Relocation support will be provided to the successful candidate, who must have at least two COVID-19 vaccinations prior to commencement of employment. Full Australian Working Rights are a requirement of this role.

About the Dambeemangadee Peoples:

The Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation provides a unique opportunity to work closely with Aboriginal people in one of the most remote and spectacular regions of the Kimberley.

The Corporation employs more than 30 staff, the vast majority of whom are Traditional Owners, working on key functions including land and sea management, cultural heritage management, economic development, visitor management, cultural programs, and corporate services.

The role is based in Derby WA 6728, offering extensive remote fieldwork opportunities during the cooler dry season (May October).
