Teaching Philosophy in a Dynamic School Environment

This full-time role requires an experienced educator with proven VCE teaching expertise, who is passionate about guiding students through philosophical inquiry, ethical reasoning, and critical thinking.

The position involves teaching VCE Philosophy and may also include contributing to other Humanities subjects.

  • Design and deliver engaging lessons that align with the VCE Philosophy Study Design for Units 1-4, focusing on areas such as epistemology, ethics, metaphysics, and philosophy of mind.
  • Develop students' skills in argument analysis, critical thinking, and ethical reasoning.
  • Provide detailed feedback to support student growth and exam readiness.
  • Utilize various teaching strategies, including discussion-based learning, debate, and independent research.
  • Encourage respectful dialogue and foster a classroom culture where students feel confident to question, debate, and reflect.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Humanities team and contribute to cross-curricular initiatives.
  • Support the school's vision, ethos, and values.

Required Skills:

  • Must hold unrestricted working rights in Australia.
  • Current VIT registration is essential.
  • Proven experience teaching VCE level Philosophy in Australia/NZ.
  • Commitment to supporting the Catholic Ethos of the school.
  • Ability to begin as soon as possible.
  • Provide two education-based references from the last 5 years.
