About the Role: We are seeking an experienced educator to join our school as a VCE Philosophy teacher.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated individual to make a positive impact on the lives of our students. As a VCE Philosophy teacher, you will be responsible for guiding students through philosophical inquiry, ethical reasoning, and critical thinking. The role involves teaching VCE Philosophy and may also include contributing to other Humanities subjects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging, intellectually challenging lessons that align with the VCE Philosophy Study Design for Units 1-4 with a focus on areas such as epistemology, ethics, metaphysics, and philosophy of mind.
  • Develop students' skills in argument analysis, critical thinking, and ethical reasoning.
  • Provide detailed and constructive feedback to support student growth and exam readiness.
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies, including discussion-based learning, debate, and independent research.
  • Encourage respectful dialogue and critical engagement with diverse philosophical perspectives and foster a classroom culture where students feel confident to question, debate, and reflect.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Humanities team and contribute to cross-curricular initiatives.
  • Support the school's vision, ethos, and values.

Requirements:

  • A proven track record of teaching VCE level Philosophy in Australia or New Zealand.
  • Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • A commitment to supporting the Catholic Ethos of the school.
  • An ability to begin work immediately.
  • Two education-based references from the last 5 years.
