Job Description

Citi, a global leader in financial services, is seeking a highly skilled Applications Support Senior Analyst to join our team in Sydney, Australia.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and business support for Citi's mission-critical trading systems, ensuring their stability, efficiency, and effectiveness. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing business support for trading system used by trading desks, sales teams, clients, and operations teams.
  • Supporting all aspects of FX Derivatives trade life cycle flows, including position matching, pricing, client connectivity, trade executions, settlements, back office, and regulatory reporting flows.
  • Performing start-of-day checks, continuous monitoring of applications and infrastructure, and regional handover at end of day.
  • Maintaining application systems that have completed development stage and are running in daily operations.
  • Managing, maintaining, and supporting applications and their operating environments, focusing on stability, quality, and functionality against service level expectations.
  • Identifying ways to maximize potential of applications used.
  • Evaluating risks and impacts of production issues and escalating to business and technology management in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring storage and archiving procedures are in place and functioning correctly.
  • Defining scope and objectives for complex application enhancements and problem resolution.
  • Reviewing and developing application contingency planning to ensure availability to users.
  • Partnering with development and production support areas to prioritize bug fixes and support tooling requirements.
  • Participating in application releases from development, testing, and deployment into production.
  • Engaging in post-implementation analysis to ensure successful system design and functionality.
  • Considering implications of application technology to current environment, identifying risks, vulnerabilities, and security issues, and communicating impact.
  • Following essential procedures and defining operating standards and processes.
  • Serving as liaison between users/traders and internal technology groups and vendors.
  • Escalating issues to appropriate technology and business teams while adhering to Service Level Agreements.
  • Acting as advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • 5-8 years of experience in an Application Support role.
  • Experience installing, configuring, or supporting business applications.
  • Knowledge of programming languages and willingness/ability to learn.
  • Advanced execution capabilities and ability to adjust quickly to changes and re-prioritization.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including ability to explain technical issues in simple terms.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Issue tracking and reporting using tools, knowledge/experience of problem Management Tools.
  • Good all-round technical skills.
  • Able to operate with limited direct supervision, exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Ability to share information with other support team members and technology teams.
  • Capacity to plan and organize workload.
  • Consistent demonstration of clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
