Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Professional to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing commercial, legal, financial, risk, and contractual expertise to support the maximisation of financial return for our Utilities Division.

  • Pre-Contract Award:
    • Contribute to the assessment and development of new business pursuit strategies by providing commercial input
    • Evaluate opportunity suitability by reviewing contractual instruments and applying our risk profile
    • Lead opportunity and risk assessments, coordinating with cross-functional teams as needed
    • Model and analyse commercial frameworks, applying sensitivity analysis to forecast contractual performance
    • Develop opportunity capitalisation plans and identify risk mitigation strategies
  • Post Contract Award:
    • Provide commercial input into rights and obligations handover to project delivery teams
    • Facilitate structured handover of contract, subcontracts and project control tools to project delivery teams
    • Support contract risk control and assurance activities through commercial reporting and audit reviews
    • Lead margin and contract performance reviews
    • Respond to project team escalations concerning contract interpretation or commercial performance queries
    • Support contractual dispute process escalations
    • Support management of contractual disputes including interfacing with internal and external counsel

About You

  • Possess a tertiary qualification in law and business/commerce
  • Have a minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and direct exposure to tier one contractor risk and governance frameworks
  • Have direct exposure to broad contracting models and model contract terms
  • Utilise your knowledge of the Utilities and power generation sector
  • Prepare executive and board level reports, briefs and memoranda of advice
  • Assess contracts autonomously and review risks associated with them
  • Interpret and draft contractual terms, and prepare associated contractual correspondence and notices
  • Perform construction project financial modelling, analysis and reporting
  • Analyse and manage contractual claims
  • Prepare discovery dossiers and legal briefs
