Business Development Manager | Defence Contracting | VIC/SA/WA

We are seeking a skilled Contract/Procurement Specialist to join a pivotal Defence Acquisition program.

The role requires expertise in vendor management, strategic sourcing, and contract negotiation to support the delivery of critical Defence capabilities.

This is an initial 3-6 month contract commencing in June. While the client's office is located in Melbourne, candidates based in South Australia may also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end procurement activities, including managing evaluations and conducting supplier negotiations.
  • Work closely with subcontractors to ensure project delivery is on time, within budget, and aligned with program objectives.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure compliance and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with program objectives.
  • Support the preparation of procurement documentation, including statements of work, tender evaluation plans, and contract terms.
Essential Criteria
  • Proven experience in procurement within the Defence sector, ideally below the line.
  • Strong vendor management skills with a track record of successful negotiations.
  • Ability to navigate complex procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale infrastructure/construction programs.
  • NV1 security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
