About the Role

This is a challenging and autonomous position that requires exceptional industrial relations skills, negotiation abilities, and knowledge of employment laws. As an IR Lead, you will play a key role in managing enterprise bargaining processes, driving industrial relations strategy, and ensuring compliance with relevant awards, EBAs, and legislation.

You will provide expert advice on ER/IR matters, represent the organisation in negotiations, and guide leaders through complex workplace issues. This is a highly visible, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being embedded in the business and working across both operational and strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Law, Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or a related field. They will also have significant relevant experience in employment/labour law, gained through a Human Resources or Employee/Industrial Relations role within the construction, manufacturing, or maintenance services industries.

They will be able to lead and facilitate negotiations with unions, demonstrate strong influencing and negotiating skills to interface with external stakeholders, including employee organisations, and possess comprehensive knowledge of industrial relations principles, practices, and their interaction with business performance.

  • Lead negotiations with employee and union bargaining representatives.
  • Advising the business on industrial disputes, including risk mitigation and associated legal processes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of briefing papers in relation to IR matters.
  • Providing advice to managers on all aspects of workplace relations policies and procedures, counselling, and disciplinary processes, contracts of employment, and enterprise bargaining agreements.
  • Preparing carefully drafted documentation and maintaining accurate records.
  • Reviewing and developing Employee Relations policies and procedures.
  • Leading dispute resolution, including advocacy and managing matters before the Fair Work Commission.
