Civil Practice Group Manager Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Civil Practice Group Manager to lead our team in Sydney. This is a unique opportunity to develop your leadership capability and management skills while working within our Avant Law team.

The successful candidate will have experience in managing a civil medical negligence team, ensuring billing targets are met, and providing high-quality legal services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the civil litigation team according to KPIs, meeting billing targets, and delivering high-quality legal services.
  • Supervise lawyers within the civil team, ensuring sustainable, timely, and efficient legal services that achieve the best possible outcomes for our members and clients.
  • Coordinate resourcing and workflows within the civil team, managing claims in accordance with agreed protocols, standards, and procedures.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the civil team (lawyers and paralegals) to enable career development and growth within Avant Law.
  • Support the delivery of medico-legal advisory services to our members by providing advice and assistance.
  • Conduct own civil file load, allocate civil files to the team, and supervise the management of civil claims.
  • Advise and support the Head of Practice, Legal, and General Manager Civil on state legal trends, issues, reforms, significant cases, and other developments relevant to the Practice Group.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience in leadership or strong interest in developing people leadership skills.
  • Defence medical negligence and insurance law experience is ideal.
  • Demonstrated health law knowledge.
  • Proactive in developing relationships and understanding member, business, and team requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
