Operational Technology Specialist

The Australian government is seeking a skilled Operational Technology Specialist to join their team in Canberra.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, maintenance, deployment and operation of technical systems and capabilities to support Australia's foreign intelligence missions.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating and maintaining operational technology equipment across a broad spectrum of technology systems;
  • Developing and guiding customer requirements, building and testing solutions to meet requirements, and deploying solutions to meet the organization's operational technology needs both in the field and in Headquarters;
  • Maintaining relevant technical and OT specific skillsets;
  • Working as part of a team either as a positive participant or as a leader;
  • Coordinating responses to technical requests from a range of diverse technology, intelligence and industry groups;
  • Conducting relevant technical operational activity;
  • Traveling interstate/overseas, sometimes at short notice;
  • Managing competing tasks and customer/stakeholder expectations in relation to technical capability;
  • Maintaining awareness of team technical capability requests;
  • Ensuring security implications are addressed.

Required qualifications and experience include relevant technical expertise in one or more of the following technical areas: Cybersecurity, Networking, Electronics, Software Engineering, and General Fitting. Experience in delivering technical training is also highly regarded.

The successful candidate will be based in Canberra but there will be opportunities to travel and build close relationships with a diverse range of people from Australia and across the globe. They will also consolidate, grow and exercise their technical skillsets in devising often unique solutions to difficult problems.
