Psychologist Role

Our department is seeking a skilled and dedicated psychologist to join their team at Applecross Senior High School. As a key member of the Student Services team, you will play a vital role in promoting student learning outcomes, wellbeing, and mental health initiatives across all year levels.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Establish positive relationships with students, parents, and staff to promote effective communication and collaboration.
  2. Develop and implement tailored strategies to support high-performing students manage academic pressure and maintain wellbeing.
  3. Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of whole-school wellbeing programs, ensuring alignment with the school's core values.
  4. Collaborate with the Student Services team to identify emerging needs within the school community and develop responsive interventions.
Requirements
  • Hold or be eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting.
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before starting.

Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated ability to implement psychology services and programs in an educational environment to maximize student learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group, and system-level intervention.
  • Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills, including producing correspondence, reports, and case notes, and conducting interviews and training.
  • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment, and analysis, intervention, and evaluation.
