Delivering expert mental health services as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess and treat children and young people with severe and complex mental health problems and disorders. Your goal is to provide optimal psycho-social outcomes for your clients and their families.
The Community Child and Youth Mental Health Program comprises six teams supporting children, young people, and their families aged 5-18 years with complex mental health needs. Interventions range from acute crisis response to medium-term care, often involving liaison with external agencies, such as schools.
Your core clinical services include diagnostic assessments, timely treatment interventions, case management, and report provision in accordance with discipline-specific codes and national practice standards.
- Diagnostic Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop effective treatment plans.
- Case Management: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and coordinated interventions.
- Report Provision: Deliver accurate and informative reports consistent with discipline standards.
- Referral and Liaison: Facilitate referrals and communication with external stakeholders.
- Advocacy: Advocate for consumers and their families/carers to support their needs and well-being.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and supervision to maintain expertise in child and youth mental health.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to achieve best practice outcomes for consumers and carers. This may involve providing advice, assessments, and reports to contribute to case management and external stakeholder engagement.
In addition to delivering high-quality clinical services, you will participate in quality improvement activities and contribute to the development and maintenance of local interagency networks.
This role offers opportunities for professional growth and development, including training and supervision responsibilities for students as delegated by the Discipline Director.
