Kinship Support Coordinator

The program supports children in statutory kinship care placements where child protection is involved. The placement is expected to last more than three months.
Program Goals- Identify Kinship Networks Early
- Strengthen Family Reunification Where Possible
- Promote Placement Stability
- Prevent Children from Being Placed in Residential Care Unnecessarily
As a Kinship Case Contracting and First Supports Case Manager, you will:
- Undertake Comprehensive Assessments and Provide Recommendations to Child Protection about the Suitability of Kinship Care Placements
- Consider Risk Factors, Strengths and Weaknesses of the Placement
- Identify the Child's Individual Needs
- Support Children to Settle within the Placement
- Support Kinship Carers to Respond to the Child's Safety, Stability and Developmental Needs
- Tertiary Qualification in Social Work, Welfare Work or a Related Discipline
- Demonstrated Experience Working with Children, Young People and Families with Complex Needs
- Understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and Best Interests Framework
- Understanding of the Out-of-Home Care and Child Protection Systems and Knowledge of Resources and Services Available in the Gippsland Region
- Strong Risk Assessment Skills
- Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written and Verbal
