Opportunity Overview
Our client is in search of a skilled Solicitor to enhance their distinguished Corporate M&A practice, specifically within the Private Equity & Venture Capital sector.
This position offers the chance to engage with some of the most significant and high-profile private capital transactions in the region, while also collaborating with international offices.
You will work in close partnership with our Sydney leadership as well as with colleagues in Melbourne and Brisbane, contributing to our National Private Equity and Venture Capital practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in a variety of corporate transactions, including private mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments and exits (such as trade sales and secondary buyouts), venture capital funding, and growth equity capital raises from inception to pre-IPO stages, as well as M&A for technology growth firms, both domestically and internationally.
- Assist senior associates and partners throughout transactions, which includes drafting and negotiating legal documents and leading due diligence processes.
- Oversee transaction management to ensure compliance with critical deadlines and anticipated deliverables, collaborating closely with other legal teams to provide a cohesive service to clients.
- Develop and maintain client relationships, which includes participating in business development initiatives, events, presentations, marketing efforts, and thought leadership activities.
- Provide counsel on corporate law matters, including securities disclosure exemptions and employee equity considerations.
Additionally, as part of a team that serves venture capital-backed companies, you will experience:
- Direct client engagement opportunities from the outset, fostering client relationships.
- Exposure to a diverse array of clients across various sectors.
- Early opportunities to manage transactions from start to finish and to draft and negotiate essential transaction documents.
Qualifications
- Possession of tertiary qualifications in law and an unrestricted practicing certificate from Australia or New Zealand.
- Demonstrated experience as a solicitor in a corporate or transactional legal environment.
- A strong desire and enthusiasm to contribute to a high-performing team and to embrace challenges.
- A genuine interest in clients, coupled with a commitment to building relationships that enhance the growth and reputation of the practice.
- Ability to navigate competing demands, tackle technical challenges, and maintain composure under pressure.
- A proactive mindset and the capability to drive initiatives forward.
