The role of Garage Manager is a pivotal position within the organization. As a leader, you will be responsible for overseeing a team that operates a fleet maintenance facility. Your primary objective will be to ensure the efficient operation of the garage, focusing on safety, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.

In this capacity, you will have direct responsibility for four team members and oversee a wider group of heavy vehicle mechanics, auto electricians, coach builders, bus assistants, and trade apprentices. Your role will require collaboration with various stakeholders, including other garage managers and external service providers, to drive continuous improvements and enhance business efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Implementing relevant legislative, safety, and maintenance standards in a fleet maintenance environment.
  • Providing leadership that aligns with the organization's values and objectives.
  • Mentoring and guiding a diverse team to achieve shared goals.
  • Developing and managing budgets to optimize resource allocation.
  • Fostering effective communication and consultation with colleagues and external partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Requirements
  • Experience in applying relevant legislative, safety, and maintenance standards in a fleet maintenance environment.
  • Evidence of capabilities in Council's Leadership Blueprint.
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to mentor and guide a diverse team.
  • Experience in strategic business planning initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
  • Well-developed skills and experience in the preparation and management of budgets.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, consultation, and negotiation skills.
  • A C-class license is essential to perform this role.
