Job Title: Aboriginal Health Project Coordinator

Job Description:

This is an opportunity to work with a talented team in a role that requires someone with cultural capability and lived experience as an Aboriginal person. You will be part of the recruitment process, providing documentation to confirm your Aboriginality and assessing your cultural capability.

About the Role:

The vision for exceptional care and healthier lives is at the forefront of our services. As a Project Coordinator in Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Services, you will plan, implement, evaluate, and coordinate Aboriginal-specific health promotion programs focused on HIV, STIs, and viral hepatitis.

You will deliver key priorities outlined in local, state, and national strategies for HIV, STIs, hepatitis C, and hepatitis B. To support culturally safe and community-led approaches, you will build and strengthen collaborative relationships between services, Aboriginal-led organisations, and other health and non-health sectors that work with Aboriginal communities.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Develop and implement Aboriginal-specific health promotion programs
    • BUILD and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
    • Evaluate and report on program outcomes
Selection Criteria:

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Descent:

  • Must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant qualifications in a health-related field or experience as a health worker/health promotion/project worker

Demonstrated Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current HIV, sexual health, and hepatitis prevention, testing, and treatment, and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal communities
