Data Center Facilities Engineer

This is a Monday-Friday role based at a static site in Australia, offering a competitive salary package with shares, annual bonus, healthcare allowance or BUPA private health care. As a Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer (Electrical) at Equinix, you will be responsible for operating, managing, maintaining and repairing HVAC, critical and non-critical Power systems, plumbing, fire control and suppression, and all site services.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Repair: Completes all maintenance protocols, plans, activities on time and accurately, including daily, weekly and monthly site checks, manages and oversees specialist vendors for all major works, planned repairs and maintenance to mechanical, electrical and special systems.
- System Management: Performs minor changes to mechanical, electrical and special systems if necessary, ensures that sufficient spare parts are available on site for frequently used parts or parts with long lead times and maintains critical spares register.
- Alarm Response: Monitors for and responds to BMS (Building Monitoring System) alarms in accordance with engineering policies and procedures, escalating to and working with Controls Engineering team where required.
- Project Work: Coordinates/oversee work with vendors to ensure that maintenance activities are carried out as per Equinix's requirements, commissioning and project work that will vary in scale and scope over time.
- Electrical Background: Understanding through practical experience of critical facility operations, with a focus on electrical (UPS, HV, STS + generators), Electrical Trade or Degree Certified.
- Skillset: Sound knowledge or understanding of HVAC and Controls, Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical and electrical systems, Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in time-sensitive situations.
- Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
- Competitive Salary: Estimated salary $120,000 - $150,000 AUD per annum.
