Job Overview

The Freight Officer Team Leader plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient handling and receipt of freight, loading, unloading, and securing general freight of all sizes.

To succeed in this position, experience using ratchet straps, chains, and binders daily is essential, as well as experience with transport manifests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating various sized counterbalance forklifts (2.5T, 7T, and 16T)
  • Processing various types of general freight from beginning to end (palletised, ugly, and oversize)
  • Secure and restrain all loads as per load restraint guide, with ratchet straps, chains, and binders
  • Ensuring accurate and complete scanning for freight in received, loaded, staged, and unloaded functions
  • Preparing outgoing freight, securing goods correctly for dispatch
  • Leading a small team of Freight Officers
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Current Forklift Licence (LF)
  • A strong knowledge base in transport and logistics
  • Experience with general ugly/oversize freight
  • Expertise in load restraints using ratchet straps, chains, and binders
  • Ability to lead, direct, and supervise a small team
  • Preferred scanning experience
