
Compensation Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Payroll Officer, responsible for coordinating end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislative requirements and agency processes.
The successful candidate will act as the first point of escalation for complex payroll queries, providing expert guidance and resolution. They will also ensure timely completion of payroll processing events and pays according to schedule.
In addition, they will assist in maintaining employee payroll records, liaising with relevant departments as needed. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a medium-sized organization.
Required skills include strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail, knowledge of superannuation legislation, taxation requirements, and National Employment Standards. Proficiency in Aurion and TechOne finance systems, as well as competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, are also highly desirable.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislative requirements and agency processes.
- Act as first point of escalation for complex payroll queries, providing expert guidance and resolution.
- Ensure timely completion of payroll processing events and pays according to schedule.
- Assist in maintaining employee payroll records, liaising with relevant departments as needed.
- Interpret and apply relevant legislation, Awards, enterprise agreements, and policies.
- Respond to payroll-related queries from staff and management in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist in reconciling payroll accounts and preparing reports for audit and compliance purposes.
- Support payroll system implementation, upgrades, or changes.
- Contribute to developing and documenting payroll procedures and guidelines.
- Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a medium-sized organization.
- Ideal experience working with outsourced payroll providers.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of superannuation legislation, taxation requirements, and National Employment Standards.
- Ability to interpret and apply employment legislation, industrial instruments, Awards, and policies.
- Proficiency in Aurion and TechOne finance systems (desirable).
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
