Product Owner Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to join our team in Canberra, working closely with government clients and embedded members.

The Product Owner will ensure the capability developed by the agile development team achieves value for the client agency's business areas and end-users. This involves working collaboratively with business SMEs, service designers, BA, delivery managers, and other product management staff to apply best practice design and development standards.

A key member of the Product Management Centre of Excellence (CoE), the Product Owner will coach and mentor product staff seconded from business areas in product management discipline, providing expertise on best practice product management.

This role requires proven expertise in managing bespoke products throughout the product development lifecycle, particularly in service and solution design during early phases. The ideal candidate can lead a design process and work effectively with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Become a Product Owner for one or multiple bespoke products, prioritizing work to deliver maximum value following product management best practices.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary agile team through design, build, test, and release of bespoke products in collaboration with a delivery manager.
  • Develop and coach other product staff seconded from internal business areas.
  • Provide expertise and advice to the Product Management Centre of Excellence (CoE).
  • Liaise with internal program stakeholders, including design leads, technical leads, solution architects, and enterprise architects, to develop overall design, development, and implementation of products.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Significant experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, including coaching and development of less experienced product staff.
  • Proven ability to become a subject matter expert in a new field.
  • Strong networking skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across geographically dispersed networks while responding to stakeholder needs and expectations.
  • Analytical abilities with the capacity to obtain accurate conclusions and apply innovative initiatives.
