About the Role

The Education and Support Specialist is responsible for providing educational support to young people in Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) settings, including Intensive Therapeutic Transitional Care (ITTC) and ITTC outreach. This support is provided in a therapeutic residential care setting and in the community.

Primary Objectives
  • Build connections with young people and education providers to enable the successful implementation of innovative education programs in line with Mac Killop's values and the ITC essential elements.
  • Develop individual education plans that align with the young person's therapeutic plan and case plan.
  • Collaborate with the young person, their family and significant others, the agency with primary case responsibility, the young person's school or education provider, and other relevant stakeholders to develop and implement education plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education plans and make adjustments as needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement education plans that address the unique needs and goals of each young person.
  • Provide educational support and guidance to young people in ITC settings, including ITTC and ITTC outreach.
  • Build relationships with education providers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless transitions and support for young people.
  • Collaborate with the ITC team to ensure that education plans are aligned with the young person's therapeutic plan and case plan.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of young people in education programs.
Requirements
  • Relevant work experience and a minimum Diploma qualification, Certificate IV in Education Support or Special Needs or equivalent.
  • An understanding and commitment to the objectives and values of Mac Killop, including Sanctuary Commitments.
  • An understanding of teaching and learning strategies and the ability to implement these as required.
  • A valid and current driver's license; satisfactory criminal history check; valid employee working with children check; and valid and current NDIS workers screening check.
