Aboriginal Client Engagement Specialist

The Client Engagement Officer plays a vital role in supporting the engagement of Stolen Generation members and their families to access the Congress Link-Up Service. This involves client liaison and cultural brokerage, as well as consulting, planning, and organizing events and activities with and for members to assist in healing.
The Congress Link-Up Service is an integral part of Congress' Youth and Family Services Section, providing family tracing, reunion, and counseling services to the Stolen Generations. This service aims to reunite members with their families, communities, traditional country, and culture.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Identifies as an Aboriginal person and is recognized and accepted as such by the Aboriginal community.
- Minimum Certificate IV qualifications or proven experience in family support, education, or health, with a willingness to undertake further training.
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal presentation skills, and the ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people.
- Ability to competently use computer software, especially word processing, data inputting, and compilation of presentations.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture, as well as a demonstrated understanding of the history and effects of the forcible removal of Aboriginal children from their families and communities.
- Current Driver's License.
