Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and culturally sensitive Aboriginal Family Support Specialist to join our team at Central Australian Aboriginal Congress Aboriginal Corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing effective support to Aboriginal children and their families in a learning and health development environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with families and children from referral through to completion of the program, ensuring cultural safety and contributing to program planning and implementation.
  • Work within a bi-cultural model, ensuring the program delivers supportive, culturally appropriate primary healthcare and builds on existing positive relationships with Aboriginal families.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members, service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Provide support and guidance to families, promoting their involvement in their children's education and health outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement programs that meet the needs of Aboriginal children and their families.
Requirements
  • Identifies as an Aboriginal person, recognised and accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community.
  • Willing to commence study of a minimum Certificate III in Children's Services or equivalent as recognised by ACECQA, and sufficient knowledge or experience in working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven experience in providing effective support to Aboriginal children in a learning and health development environment and their families.
  • A current NT Drivers Licence, or ability to obtain one prior to commencement.
