Aboriginal Client Engagement Officer

The Client Engagement Officer plays a vital role in supporting the engagement of Stolen Generation members and their families to access the Congress Link-Up Service. This involves client liaison and cultural brokerage, as well as consulting, planning, and organizing events and activities with and for members to assist in healing.
The Congress Link-Up Service is an integral part of the Congress' Youth and Family Services Section, providing family tracing, reunion, and counseling services to the Stolen Generations to reunite them with their families, communities, traditional country, and culture.
Congress provides a comprehensive primary health care service to Aboriginal people in Alice Springs and nearby remote communities.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and engage with Stolen Generation members and their families to access the Congress Link-Up Service
- Provide client liaison and cultural brokerage support to facilitate healing and reunification
- Consult, plan, and organize events and activities with and for members to promote healing and cultural connection
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop and maintain effective working relationships
- Use computer software to compile presentations and data inputting
- Identify as an Aboriginal person and be recognized and accepted as such by the Aboriginal community
- Minimum Certificate IV qualifications or proven experience in family support, education, or health, with a willingness to undertake further training
- Good communication skills, including written and verbal presentation skills, and the ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people
- Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture, with a demonstrated understanding of the history and effects of the forcible removal of Aboriginal children from their families and communities
