Aboriginal Client Engagement Officer

The Client Engagement Officer plays a vital role in supporting the engagement of Stolen Generation members and their families to access the Congress Link-Up Service. This involves client liaison and cultural brokerage, as well as consulting, planning, and organizing events and activities with and for members to assist in healing.
The Congress Link-Up Service is an integral part of Congress' Youth and Family Services Section, providing family tracing, reunion, and counseling services to the Stolen Generations to reunite them with their families, communities, traditional country, and culture.
To be successful in this role, you will require a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and the history and effects of the forcible removal of Aboriginal children from their families and communities. You will also need excellent communication skills, including written and verbal presentation skills, and the ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people.
Key Responsibilities- Support the engagement of Stolen Generation members and their families to access the Congress Link-Up Service
- Client liaison and cultural brokerage
- Consulting, planning, and organizing events and activities with and for members to assist in healing
- Providing family tracing, reunion, and counseling services to the Stolen Generations
- Identifies as an Aboriginal person and is recognized and accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community
- Minimum certificate IV qualifications or proven experience in one or more of the following areas - family support, education, or health
- Good communication skills, including written and verbal presentation skills
- Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture
- Current Drivers Licence
