About the Role

The Clinical Coordinator is a pivotal position within our multidisciplinary team, responsible for providing support in relation to the development, implementation and evaluation of quality initiatives. This role will also be responsible for allocating patients to care coordination streams, taking into account individual patient needs, staff strengths and patient cohorts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Unit Manager to oversee the day-to-day functioning of the unit.
  • Orient new staff to ensure they receive an appropriate induction.
  • Allocate Key Nurses to patients based on staff strengths/skills, patient needs and patient cohort.
  • Liaise with the Prison Access Flow Coordinator to facilitate admission and discharge flow.
  • Provide supervision and support to nursing staff.
  • Oversee the delivery of effective and sustainable therapeutic programs.

This role has a significant impact on the establishment and maintenance of high-quality clinical care standards, ensuring practices align with relevant national standards.


Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery.
  • A Postgraduate Diploma (Nursing Practice Mental Health) or equivalent and current registration with AHPRA.
  • Experience translating knowledge of Australian College of Mental Health Nursing standards, contemporary forensic mental health nursing practices and relevant legislation into practice.
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer Recovery, including modelling and leading recovery-focused initiatives.
  • Ability to independently plan and undertake comprehensive nursing assessments of mentally ill patients.
