About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Archives Assistant to join our team at the Digital Preservation Coalition. As a key member of our Digital Curation team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the acquisition and ongoing stewardship of born-digital collections.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work with our Digital Curation team to develop and implement workflows and processes for the preservation of digital materials.
  2. Collaborate with our technical team to ensure the effective transfer and preparation of digital collections for ingestion.
  3. Research and resolve technical issues related to software and hardware tools used in digital preservation workflows.
  4. Develop and maintain metadata and technical specifications for digital collections.

Requirements:

  1. Applied knowledge of international standards and best practices for digital preservation, including metadata, file formats, and technical specifications.
  2. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with software and hardware tools used in digital preservation workflows, across multiple operating systems and through the command line.
  3. Demonstrated ability to research and resolve technical issues related to software and hardware tools from the 1980s to present day.
  4. Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience managing born-digital collections.
