About the Role

We are seeking a talented Design Leadership Manager to join our team at Canva. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers who build and maintain our product.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Team Leadership: You will lead a high-performing team of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the resources they need to succeed.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will work closely with other teams, including UI/UX designers, content designers, product managers, and engineers to deliver projects on time and to a high standard.
  • Technical Strategy: You will develop and implement the technical strategy for the team, working closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Project Delivery: You will oversee the delivery of projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Mentoring and Coaching: You will mentor and coach engineers to help them develop their skills and achieve their career goals.
  • Talent Development: You will identify and develop talent within the team, helping to create a pipeline of future leaders.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven Leadership Experience: You will have a track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering results.
  • Technical Skills: You will have strong technical skills, including software engineering fundamentals and experience with design documents.
  • Communication Skills: You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to clearly articulate problems and solutions.
  • Influence and Negotiation: You will be able to influence and negotiate with cross-functional teams to achieve outcomes.

We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of $180,000 per annum, plus superannuation and benefits. We also offer a range of flexible work options, including remote work arrangements and flexible hours.
