Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Community Engagement and Fundraising Specialist to join our team at the Romero Centre in Brisbane. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in developing and executing strategic fundraising initiatives, building relationships with local businesses, schools, and community groups, and enhancing the reputation of the Romero Centre.

About the Role

This permanent full-time opportunity offers a competitive salary in line with the Archdiocesan pay scale. You will work closely with the Manager of the Romero Centre to ensure financial sustainability and represent the Centre within the broader community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Fundraising Strategy: Develop and execute strategies for income growth, focusing on donor relations and retention, business partnerships, and grant writing.
  2. Community Engagement: Build the Romero Centre's reputation through partnerships with schools, parishes, community groups, and businesses, and by hosting key events such as fundraisers and multicultural celebrations.
  3. Public Relations: Lead annual public relations campaigns to enhance Romero's visibility, manage media relationships, and leverage digital platforms to share impactful stories.
  4. Governance and Compliance: Establish frameworks for marketing, public relations, and fundraising; manage budgets, and prepare reports for leadership.
  5. Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to internal policies and complete required training.
Requirements
  • Commitment to supporting asylum seekers and refugees: A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to supporting those the Romero Centre exists to serve.
  • Not-for-profit experience: Proven experience working within a not-for-profit organisation, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in this sector.
  • Experience managing volunteers: Demonstrated ability to manage paid and unpaid staff and coordinate the activities of various short-term volunteers.
  • Experience building strategic relationships: Five years' experience in a similar role with a proven ability to build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
