Strategic Financial Partner

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Financial Partner to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with Practice Group Leaders, Partners, and senior lawyers to provide actionable financial insights and strategic support.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance business partnering, ideally within professional services or legal environments, and excellent leadership, influencing, and relationship-building skills.

This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate across Business Development, People & Performance, and Finance teams to optimise resource allocation, pricing strategies, and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a trusted commercial advisor to designated Practice Groups
  • Analyse key financial and operational metrics (e.g., KPIs, WIP, debtor days, utilisation, realisation) and lead performance improvement initiatives
  • Support pricing strategies, tender submissions, and large client proposals
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support client arrangements, compliance, and operational planning
  • Enhance working capital management and oversee significant WIP write-offs
  • Assist in resource planning and team structuring aligned with strategic goals
  • Promote financial acumen across the firm through training and commercial awareness initiatives
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in commerce, law, or business
  • Proven experience in finance business partnering, ideally within professional services or legal environments
  • CA, CPA or equivalent (highly desirable)
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and relationship-building skills
  • Exceptional analytical and communication abilities
