We are seeking an experienced professional to assist with upgrading our Windows 10 virtual desktops to Windows 11 over a six-month period on a day-to-day basis.

The role involves upgrading several thousand virtual desktop users through in-place upgrades and new builds, including identifying machine Active Directory group memberships, building machines, liaising with users, tracking progress, and providing updates.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Upgrading virtual desktop instances from Windows 10 to Windows 11
  • Planning, tracking, and reporting progress to management
  • Engaging vendors, scripting, or using migration tools creatively
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders and users to ensure a smooth migration
  • Assisting with change management and preparing change requests
  • Maintaining an issues register, identifying risks and issues impacting the project

In order to succeed in this role, you will require:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar environment
  • Able to manage timelines, track progress, and coordinate team efforts
  • Strong communication skills, including written updates
  • Experience deploying applications with SCCM or similar tools (preferred)
  • Powershell scripting experience (favorable)
  • Experience with AVD, VMware, or similar (preferred)
  • Solid support background in Windows 10 desktop OS
  • Able to perform bare-metal builds using SCCM, InTune, or similar
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • Willingness to learn and a positive attitude
