Upgrade Windows 10 to Windows 11 Engineer

The Workplace Technology team manages all end-user devices, such as mobile devices, laptops, desktops, and virtual desktop operating systems, along with supporting systems like SCCM.

We are seeking an Engineer to assist with upgrading our Windows 10 AVDs to Windows 11 over a six-month period. The role involves upgrading several thousand AVD users through in-place upgrades and new builds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Upgrade AVD instances from Windows 10 to Windows 11
  • Plan, track, and report progress to management
  • Engage vendors or use migration tools creatively
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and users to ensure smooth migration
  • Assist with change management and prepare change requests
  • Maintain an issues register, identify risks and issues impacting the project

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar environment
  • Ability to manage timelines, track progress, and coordinate team efforts
  • Strong communication skills, including written updates
  • Experience deploying applications with SCCM or similar tools (preferred)
  • PowerShell scripting experience (favorable)
  • Experience with AVD, VMware, or similar (preferred)
  • Solid support background in Windows 10 desktop OS
  • Ability to perform bare-metal builds using SCCM, InTune, or similar
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • Willingness to learn and a positive attitude
