IT Desktop Support Specialist

A local council in the inner south-west is seeking an IT Desktop Support Specialist for a 3-month contract, starting immediately. This role requires your presence in the office 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communication: Send email communications to staff with deployment schedules and arrange appointments.
  • Windows 11 Installation: Perform clean installations or upgrade existing systems from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
  • User Profile Configuration: Set up user profiles, including desktop preferences, network settings, and custom configurations.
  • Assist with Application Compatibility Testing: Ensure critical applications and third-party software are compatible with Windows 11.
  • Network Configuration: Verify and set up network configurations such as Wi-Fi and VPN on devices.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Address issues post-deployment, including hardware/software conflicts and user inquiries, escalating when necessary.
  • End-user Training: Train users on new Windows 11 features and UI changes.
  • Collaboration: Work with support teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth deployment.
  • Device Management: Collect out-of-warranty devices, securely wipe data, and arrange decommissioning.
Requirements:
  • Experience with BIOS configurations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune (Autopilot, Device compliance, Configuration profiles, Application deployments).
  • Experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager (PXE boot, Device management, Task sequences).
  • Strong customer service skills, defect logging, documentation, and process improvement contributions.
