A unique opportunity exists to join Macquarie University as a key member of the Office of General Counsel.

Job Summary
  • Fixed-term contract for 12 months, with hybrid work arrangement at Macquarie University's Wallumattagal Campus in North Ryde.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver timely and accurate legal advice on commercial, contract, property, intellectual property, IT, research, governance, and dispute matters affecting the University.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to ensure high-quality legal advice and support achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Lead new approaches to risk management, case management, and commercial activities within the University and its controlled entities.
  • Work collaboratively with a highly skilled and collaborative legal team while working autonomously.
Selection Criteria / Qualifications
  • Be admitted to practice in NSW (or qualified to practise in NSW) and have at least 4 years post-admission experience as an in-house counsel or other relevant experience.
  • Display excellent organisational skills, conceptual thinking, analytical skills, and proven ability to build strong relationships and partnerships.
  • Experience in administrative law, intellectual property, contract law, commercialisation of IP, litigation, corporate law, property law, health law, or IT law is highly regarded.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and in a complex in-house legal environment.
  • Personal drive and integrity are essential.
