
Computational Biophysicist for Potassium Channel Research

Job Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Computational Biophysicist to join our research team. The successful candidate will contribute to the investigation of the molecular mechanisms of potassium ion channel function and modulation.
The position involves employing advanced molecular dynamics methods and analysis to describe potassium channel conduction, inactivation, and modulation mechanisms. The project aims to improve our understanding of fundamental mechanisms of ion channel function and how these proteins respond to physiological and/or pharmacological stimuli to control electrical signaling in the body.
This research will be conducted in collaboration with leading experimental researchers in cryo EM and electrophysiology and is funded by a prestigious research grant.
To be successful in this role, you will have a PhD in physics, physical chemistry, or a closely related discipline, research experience in computation in biophysics, condensed matter physics, or physical chemistry, and expertise in atomistic simulations of membrane protein systems, particularly potassium channels.
You will also possess strong skills in supercomputing, programming/scripting in a Unix environment, MD scripting for advanced simulations and analysis, as well as good visualization skills.
Demonstrated ability to work well with experimental collaborators to achieve high-impact publications and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Key Requirements:
- PhD in physics, physical chemistry, or a closely related discipline
- Research experience in computation in biophysics, condensed matter physics, or physical chemistry
- Expertise in atomistic simulations of membrane protein systems, particularly potassium channels
- Strong skills in supercomputing, programming/scripting in a Unix environment, MD scripting for advanced simulations and analysis
- Good visualization skills
