Role Overview

  • This is a dynamic position where you will be responsible for setting up headings and preparing the work area for drilling and ground support.
  • You will also assist with the installation of bolts and mesh to ensure ground stability, help minimize equipment downtime by assisting with basic repairs and maintenance on Jumbo rigs, and manage the delivery and installation of ground support consumables.
About This Role

The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a Nipper in underground mining, ideally supporting Jumbo operations. You will need to be confident working in physically demanding environments and following safety protocols. A strong commitment to safety and teamwork is essential, as well as a willingness to learn and take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment.

In addition, you will require certification to work at heights and security clearance to handle explosives (or a willingness to obtain). A current "C" Class Australian Manual Driver's Licence is also necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Support Jumbo Operators by setting up headings and preparing the work area for drilling and ground support.
  • Assist with the installation of bolts and mesh to ensure ground stability.
  • Help minimize equipment downtime by assisting with basic repairs and maintenance on Jumbo rigs.
  • Manage the delivery and installation of ground support consumables.
  • Accurately record shift data and reports.
  • Communicate clearly with the Shift Boss and crew to stay aligned on daily priorities.
  • Evaluate risks and contribute to a safe work environment.
