Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Aboriginal Health Program Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating Aboriginal-specific health promotion programs focused on HIV, STIs, and viral hepatitis.

This role includes delivering on priorities outlined in local, state, and national strategies for HIV, STIs, hepatitis C, and hepatitis B. The coordinator will focus on building and strengthening collaborative relationships between SHBBV services, Aboriginal-led organizations, and other sectors working with Aboriginal communities.

The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications in a health-related field and/or experience as a health worker/health promotion/project worker in government or non-government sectors.

They will also possess knowledge of current HIV, sexual health, and hepatitis prevention, testing, and treatment; understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal communities, particularly young Aboriginal people.

The coordinator will have the ability to initiate, develop, deliver, evaluate, and report on health-related projects. They will also be able to identify, negotiate, and build effective partnerships with key Aboriginal stakeholders.

A strong organizational and communication skillset is essential, along with the ability to work in a team and with minimal supervision to deliver outcomes.


Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and coordinate Aboriginal-specific health promotion programs focused on HIV, STIs, and viral hepatitis.
  • Deliver on key priorities outlined in local, state, and national strategies for HIV, STIs, hepatitis C, and hepatitis B.
  • Support culturally safe, community-led approaches to program design and delivery.
  • Build and strengthen collaborative relationships between SHBBV services, Aboriginal-led organizations, and other sectors working with Aboriginal communities.

Selection Criteria
