SESLHD's Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Services (SHBBV) provides leadership, innovation and research in the sector. Services within SHBBV are involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses at an individual and population level within SESLHD. With a client base of approximately 28,000 individuals, it is the largest SHBBV service in Australia.
This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, evaluation and coordination of Aboriginal-specific health promotion programs focused on HIV, STIs and viral hepatitis. This includes delivering on key priorities outlined in local, state and national strategies for HIV, STIs, hepatitis C and hepatitis B.
To support culturally safe, community led approaches to the design and delivery of these programs, the role also focuses on building and strengthening collaborative relationships between SHBBV services, Aboriginal-led organisations, and other health and non-health sectors that work with Aboriginal communities.

- Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977).
- Relevant qualifications in a health-related field and/or experience as a health worker / health promotion/project worker in the government or non-government sector.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current HIV, sexual health and hepatitis prevention, testing and treatment and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal community particularly young Aboriginal people.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop, deliver, evaluate and report on health-related projects.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying, negotiating and building effective partnerships with the key Aboriginal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and ability to work with minimum supervision to deliver agreed outcomes.
- Demonstrated high level organisational and communication skills, including a capacity to prioritise competing interests and meet tight deadlines.
- Current NSW driver's licence and willingness to travel.
