Senior Project Manager Job Description

This role requires a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of major education transformation initiatives in the Northern Territory.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex business solution implementations, leading high-performing teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects that are high value, high risk, and high impact.

The full project lifecycle will include requirements, design, procurement, configuration, delivery, implementation, and transition to support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead large multi-disciplinary teams in delivering complex ICT business solutions.
  • Manage project governance, planning, risk, and issue resolution to ensure delivery on time within scope and budget.
  • Drive organisational change by integrating new ICT capabilities with business transformation objectives.
  • Engage and negotiate with diverse stakeholders using strong interpersonal communication and human-centred design skills.
  • Oversee procurement, vendor engagement, and technical integration activities.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • More than 10 years in senior project management roles within large complex digital transformation programs.
  • Proven leadership in governance, strategy, planning, and delivery of enterprise-level solutions.
  • Strong change management capability with end-to-end ICT solution delivery experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills across all levels.
  • Technical knowledge in system analysis, design, and integration.
  • Experience with Microsoft toolsets including SharePoint and Jira.
  • Previous government project experience, ideally in education or public services.

  • Location: Darwin (Remote work is not available).
  • Candidates must hold National Police Clearance, Working with Children Ochre Card, and may require PF166.
