Job Opportunity:

The Executive Director Incident Management & Service Recovery will lead the delivery of a safe, efficient, and reliable rail network for the people of NSW.

This strategic leadership role is accountable for the safe and reliable operations of train services in line with the timetable and leading the incident management capability with a focus on swift network recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment to drive operational excellence and minimize disruptions.
  • Establishing robust governance frameworks, systems, and processes for efficient and safe service operation across the NSW rail network.
  • Ensuring quick and effective resolution of operational incidents through on-site and network-wide incident management strategies.
  • Cascading service recovery and alternate transport plans to customer-facing frontline teams, station staff, and train crew through various communication channels.
  • Identifying and implementing strategic initiatives to improve incident response and service recovery performance by addressing root causes and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Developing strategies to reduce incidents, response, and recovery times.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to achieve strategic and operational performance objectives, driving business outcomes and growth.
  • Adopting and integrating digital signalling technologies to modernize and evolve train future operations to next-generation systems, technologies, and operational frameworks.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive operational experience in managing an end-to-end incident management process, driving continuous improvement within a rail environment or equivalent industry-based operational function.

They possess extensive knowledge and experience in rail operations and operational risk, along with strong problem-solving skills, customer orientation, and operational decision-making abilities.
