About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Junior Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator to join our Safety and Quality Team on a temporary basis. This role is responsible for assisting the safety and quality functions within the team, including developing, implementing, and reviewing WHS policies.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with preferred qualifications in WHS and strong administrative expertise. You should have at least 3 years' experience in a similar role, with a solid understanding of the WHS Act, regulations, and codes of practice. You will also have:

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and a warm and friendly demeanor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to problem-solve and think on your feet
  • High-level organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to work with a diverse group of healthcare staff to implement WHS performance and improvement strategies
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform WHS functions under the national Workplace Health and Safety Act and Regulations to assist Qscan Group in fulfilling its legal obligations
  • Support the WHS Advisor in all WHS projects and functions, including radiation and medication safety
  • Manage the radiation safety register and collection/upkeep of documentation in this space, while working closely with the radiation safety officers (RSOs)
  • Attend the WHS Committee and Radiation Safety Committee meetings as team secretariat
  • Assist with chemical management, collation of SDSs, and completion of required hazardous substance risk assessments
  • Assist with the implementation of the 2-year WHS national safety strategy plan and project completion
  • Develop, implement, assess, report, and review safety audits/inspections across the group. Visit clinics as required and assist staff with completion of safety audits in line with the internal audit schedule
  • Engage in hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control activities, providing recommendations for controls
  • Assist the Quality Advisor with quality functions, including document control and upkeep of the safety and quality SharePoint
  • Prepare end-of-month reporting on safety and quality functions across the group
  • Provide systems administration of the Qscan Group incident reporting system, supporting staff with troubleshooting, logging on, managing incidents, and training, etc.
  • Maintain a sound understanding of national state-by-state WHS laws/regulations and present changes/updates to the law/regulations to management and staff as required
  • Ensure appropriate WHS systems, policies, and procedures are developed, updated, and maintained with a focus on continuous quality improvement
  • Provide administrative support to Qscan Group's Clinical and Quality Governance Framework, as required
