Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workplace Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Empire Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing workplace health and safety advice, service, and assistance to our clients, including a diverse range of WHS activities and technical matters relating to operational activities, health programs, WHS initiatives, WHS system/processes, and rehabilitation and return to work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide WHS advice and assistance: Interpret WHS legislation, including relevant legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards/International Standards, and provide WHS advice on technical matters relating to building, construction, and maintenance industry, particularly in the development of WHS systems and processes.
  • Support return-to-work activities: Review and develop suitable duties plans, review medical certificates, and rehabilitation activities, such as ergonomic assessments and organizing OT assessments.
  • Assist with WHS training and safety culture activities: Organize and coordinate WHS training and assist with organizing safety culture activities.
  • Conduct site WHS&E audits and inspections: Conduct site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure both client and contract workers are adhering to WHS legislation and make recommendations to improve safety on site.
  • Assist with reporting and investigating WHS&E incidents: Assist with reporting and investigating WHS&E incidents and contractor notifiable incidents.
  • Coordinate emergency planning and response activities: Coordinate emergency planning and response activities at the direction of the WHS Manager.
  • Deliver Departmental health and safety programs: Coordinate the delivery of Departmental health and safety programs and health monitoring activities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 12 months demonstrated WH&S experience: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 12 months demonstrated WH&S experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong Administration skills: Strong Administration skills.
  • Excellent communication skills: Excellent communication skills.
  • Government experience highly desirable: Government experience highly desirable.
