Job Description

We are seeking a Vocational Counsellor to provide short-term support to individuals with complex needs, enhancing their job readiness.

The successful candidate will work closely with participants and DES team members to address barriers to employment, including emotional, mental, or lifestyle issues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Meeting with participants and DES team members to discuss barriers to employment.
  • Working with participants to overcome barriers to job readiness.
  • Assisting Employment Consultants in understanding participant concerns and reframing challenges.
  • Providing multiple vocational counselling support sessions to help participants overcome challenges and prepare for ongoing work.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, including Afford staff, participants, employers, representatives of DSS, DHS, and others.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in counselling, social work, or psychology is highly preferred.
  • Experience working within a short-term solution-based counselling framework is essential.
  • Current full NSW driver's licence is required.
  • Working With Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening check are mandatory.
