Electrical Systems Lead

We seek a highly experienced and skilled Electrical Systems Lead to oversee electrical power systems for various projects within the mining and metals industry. This key role involves providing technical guidance, leading engineering concepts, and presenting ideas to project management and clients.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and supervise electrical calculations, power system studies, protection reports, and arc flash analysis in line with Bechtel and client requirements using industry-standard software.
  • Lead the development of engineering concepts and design throughout all project phases and present these to project management and the client.
  • Optimize system design to meet production targets such as maximum capacity, operating schedule, availability, and utilization while minimizing project capital expenditures and operational expenses.
  • Contribute engineering input to the specification, tender, evaluation, and award of complex electrical material and service requisitions.
  • Carry out or lead special or unique studies requiring unconventional or novel approaches or research techniques using available guides and precedents and expands and develops where necessary.
  • Serve as a consultant to projects providing advice on assignments having unique features.
  • Train and assist the development of other engineers within the electrical discipline.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a professional license in an appropriate discipline from a recognized licensing board.
  • Experience in the execution of Basic/Conceptual Engineering, FEED, and execution of EPCM and EPC mining and minerals projects.
  • Extensive experience in high voltage system specification and design, low voltage system specification and design, industrial power systems study and analysis.
  • Desirable: Start-up, field engineering, or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, or process plants.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, calculations, applications, construction methods, and materials.
  • Good working knowledge of industry and regulatory standards such as MSHA, OSHA, ISO, DIN, AS/NZS, AS, IEC, ANSI.
  • Ability to develop procedures and design criteria/guides and demonstrated knowledge of computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools to perform calculations.
